| About Us |

Our Mission Statement By blending the ever-advancing technology of today with the rich tradition of the stage, we hope to strengthen the impact of live performance in the community. Such an ephemeral experience provides didactic and entertaining value that has the power to ignite the human soul. Through the scope of excellence, the individuals both on and off the stage aspire to honor the practice of storytelling that continues to endure centuries after its creation. |

| Our Story In September 2005, Elizabeth Van Winkle was enjoying an night out with friends when she received a 1 AM phone call from fellow actor Todd Haberkorn. Todd had something on his mind. That something was starting a theatre company. Now. His late night fervor was met with some amusement. Todd and Elizabeth had discussed creating a company in the past, but only in the somewhat distant future. Surprisingly, the next day came and Todd's enthusiasm had not waivered. In fact, he had stayed up the night creating a mission statement, company name, and short list of goals. Theater Fusion had begun. Elizabeth contacted the Dallas Morning News, in particular theatre critic Lawson Taitte, who was at that moment looking for a "process story" that would follow an artistic venture from its inception to the culmination of some sort of production. Over the course of several months, Lawson was constantly updated with Fusion's accomplishments as well as its mistakes as they prepared for their first theatrical production while simultaneously looking for a permanent performance space. That first performance, of Jeffrey Hatcher's The Turn of the Screw accomplished everything Fusion hoped it would by setting the bar high. The play received excellent reviews, selling out its final weekend. The Turn of the Screw was followed by a full season of edgy contemporary plays like John Patrick Shanley's The Dreamer Examines His Pillow to Shakespeare's classic Twelfth Night. Theater Fusion is currently at a crossroads of sorts. There are a number of directions possible, each with potential pitfalls and benefits. As we transition into the next phase of our endeavors, we remain committed as always to the highest artistic standards, and we look forward to seeing where we end up. The journey is only beginning! |
